  • Does not need to use very much fresh water which could instead be used for drinking

  • Does not need very much space

  • With the amount of heat produced naturally, much more energy can be produced that that of oil and natural gas

  • Energy is produced constantly as the earth is naturally producing heat at all hours of the day

  • Many different uses that don’t just include heating and cooling of houses (e.g. heat in green houses, warming water for fish farms, used in industrial processes)

  • Not dependent on weather like other renewable energy systems

Renewable Energy - Environment & Sustainability
Different Applications

PROS OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

Visual Example of Geothermal Heat
  • GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMPS

- Constant output as the temperature in the ground remains constant

- Designed to meet almost all the space heating requirements during all seasons

- Long life expactancy

  • DIRECT USE

- Environmentally friendly, as heat is extracted from underground (No processing required)

-Very little harmful waste produced

  • GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANTS

- Plants can be built and placed almost anywhere compared to non-renewable energy sources (such as nuclear plants)
